Partial moment entropy approximation to radiative heat transfer
We extend the half moment entropy closure for the radiative heat transfer equations presented in [J. Comput. Phys. 180 (2002) 584] and [J. Comput. Phys. 198 (2004) 363] to multi-D. To that end we consider a partial moment system with general partitions of the unit sphere closed by an entropy minimization principle. We give physical and mathematical reasons for this choice of model and study its...
متن کاملParabolic Approximation, Radiative Transfer and Time Reversal
We first present a new formulation of parabolic approximation of the Maxwell equations for heterogeneous dielectric materials. We then discuss rigorous results about selfaveraging scaling limits of parabolic waves in terms of the Wigner distribution function. Among the 6 possible scaling limits two are exactly solvable. We use the Green function to analyze the time reversal operation in turbule...
متن کاملFour-stream isosector approximation for canopy radiative transfer
[1] This study develops an analytical four-stream isosector approximation for solar radiative transfer in a homogeneous canopy, based on the approximation of four spherical sectors of isotropic intensities (constant values for light intensities). Compared to results from a multilayer radiative transfer model, the four-stream isosector approximation substantially improves the accuracy in calcula...
متن کاملHyperbolicity and critical points in two - moment approximate radiative transfer
We present numerical calculations of spherically symmetric radiative transport using a two-moment (P-1) method with a two-dimensional non-linear closure on the Eddington factor. The stationary state solutions contain a critical point. We demonstrate that the two-moment equations with a non-linear closure are well behaved. The solutions are physically acceptable , regular and accurate.
متن کاملSparse tensor phase space Galerkin approximation for radiative transport
ABSTRACT We develop, analyze, and test a sparse tensor product phase space Galerkin discretization framework for the stationary monochromatic radiative transfer problem with scattering. The mathematical model describes the transport of radiation on a phase space of the Cartesian product of a typically three-dimensional physical domain and two-dimensional angular domain. Known solution methods s...
